Hello and Welcome to Endeavour – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.
Happy New Year! Here we are in 2017 and beginning a new year. I like new beginnings! They’re exciting. They come with the anticipation of a fresh start and new adventures.
I recently gave a presentation for a group of Human Resources professionals entitled, Beyond Retirement: Guiding Employees into Their Post Career Years. I discovered two very interesting things as a result of research. . . (1) the people who are happiest after leaving their careers behind continue to experience a sense of purpose in life, in other words they replace the sense of purpose they got from working by planning for and do things that are meaningful to them. It might be something like a hot air balloon ride or volunteering, helping a serving others. We are happiest when we are involved in things that are meaningful to us. (2) relationships and a sense of community are extremely important. We need a place to belong. We are happiest when we are involved in the lives of others. What is interesting about that is that purpose and community speaks to the heart of Garden Spot Village. We are all about helping people connect with likeminded people and providing opportunities to live with purpose. I think that is pretty cool.
The first people moved into Sycamore Springs in December and they next round is scheduled for March -0 April. Couple of questions: Have you had it with shoveling snow, has the appeal of mulching and mowing waned or maybe you want low cost made to order fabulous dining so you don’t have to cook? Does the idea of a single detached home in a vibrant community get your attention? Sycamore Springs could be the ticket. There are still a handful of houses available so feel free to call Megan or Kelly. You could treat yourself to a brand new, amazing, lifestyle in 2017. Something to think about. We’d love for you to live here.
I was just looking at the January calendar and there are trips, concerts, plays, educational series, art workshops, eating out groups, on and off campus volunteer opportunities and all kinds of other stuff going on. Plus if you are interested in international mission trips teams are planning to go to the Dominican Republic and Honduras again in 2017.
We just posted the January issue of the Garden Variety on the website where you discover all the details about all the things that are happening on campus to start the new year.
This has been Endeavor – Highlighting the Happenings of Garden Spot Village.
I’m Scott Miller and I hope to see you around campus and as I always say . . . Life is Good!
