As the weather becomes cooler and leaves begin to turn hues of orange and red, we are all looking for interactive ways to enjoy the season to its fullest. One of the best ways to celebrate the upcoming fall and winter seasons is located near Stevens, Pennsylvania, a scenic 35-minute drive from Garden Spot Village.
Refreshing Mountain is a family-oriented retreat with an array of different activities to fit the season. From its Fall Fest Days event to its annual Christmas lights, it is a great place to spend time with family and friends and make new traditions and memories.
Beginning with Fall Fest Days, Refreshing Mountain Retreat offers a wide range of family-oriented activities. Running through the Saturday before Thanksgiving, this is a fantastic experience to add to your harvest season. Depending how adventurous your family is, you can choose to partake in a wide array of experiences. For a thrill-seeking family, there are many autumnal-themed activities located on their famous ziplines, such as Aerial Cornhole Toss from a two-zipline course, Rubber Duckie drop from five ziplines, and even Pumpkin Smashing off of their daunting seven-zipline course. The whole family can have a great time in any of their games as well, such as pumpkin ring toss and cornhole.
Over 500,000 Christmas lights will cover the retreat starting the day after Thanksgiving. In a one-of-a-kind viewing experience, guests can choose between walking a path to view the lights or ziplining through them. With three different options, the ziplines are well-equipped for any family member. There are options for courses from one to three ziplines, as well as plenty of elevated rope obstacles to enhance your experience. Additionally, the walking paths include a kid-friendly scavenger hunt to keep the whole family engaged. On select dates, proceeds of the walk-through lights go to benefit local charities. This is a great way to have fun while giving back to the community during Christmastime. As it gets late and chilly, guests can enjoy a hot beverage, such as hot cocoa, and sit around the fire. This is a truly unique experience that will create long-lasting memories for all members of the family.
Outside of the Fall Fest Days and the Christmas festivities, Refreshing Mountain also offers many different activities daily, such as Axe Throwing and three different escape rooms. Refreshing Mountain’s 80+ acres offer many different hiking trails with breathtaking spots for pictures. Refreshing Mountain also offers a glimpse into nature with its wildlife center. Here, they showcase many of Pennsylvania’s reptiles and birds. From rattlesnakes to rehabilitated owls and hawks, this is an amazing way to take a closer look at our amazing ecosystem.
