Hello and Welcome to Endeavor – a monthly video update where you will discover the abundant opportunities you have to live with purpose in community at Garden Spot Village.
I’m Scott Miller, the Chief Marketing Officer at Garden Spot Communities. Thank you for joining us.
I hope you and your family are doing well. Life looks different at Garden Spot Village but it hasn’t come to a halt like it has for a lot of people. People say it’s like living in a “life has stopped” time warp. However, I don’t hear that much around here because people are still engaged—differently—but still engaged. If you haven’t visited our website lately I’d encourage you to check it out to see how people who live here, continue to lives filled with opportunities and purpose in community.
Plans have been put in place to gradually reopen the campus when the Re-opening phase for Lancaster County moves to Yellow and then Green. We anticipate the move to yellow will take place in June. See the COVID-19 update button on the home page of our website for the details.
With all the negative media hype around nursing homes people are wondering is a retirement community a safe place to live? Our residents keep saying they are so glad they live here. They feel safe because of all the precautions that are in place, groceries are delivered to their door steps by resident volunteers, they can order take out of delivery from The Harvest Table. Unlike those of us who have to deal with grocery stores they never had to worry about cooking or if they could get take out. They could even get toilet paper. People still had opportunities to volunteer, they had help with technology, online entertainment, and people they can turn to for all types of services. For a whole variety of reasons people have said this is the best possible place to live in times like these.
Because Garden Spot Village is considered an essential business and we’ve established very definitive protocols—people have been safely moving in over the last several months and are now part of the community with all the benefits I just mentioned. A number of people will get the keys to their new Sycamore Springs homes in mid-June because we had a waiver to continue construction. Because we couldn’t do tours the last several months we have four homes available in block 2 for move-in this coming fall. If you’d like to live at Garden Spot Village this year this is a perfect opportunity. Kelly and Megan would be happy to talk you through the process.
We just posted the June issue of the Garden Variety on the Events page of the Garden Spot Village website. At this time all scheduled events and activities are exclusively for residents. We plan to start re-opening the campus as soon as the state officially declares a Yellow re-open phase for Lancaster County.
