In 2017 Garden Spot Communities began to sponsor the Christmas Show at the Fulton Theatre and has been every year since that time. This year the Mainstage Series has such a fantastic line-up that Garden Spot is a Production Co-Sponsor supporting all the shows. Our partnership with Fulton has been highly rewarding and we’re excited to support live theater.
The Mainstage line-up inspired me to personally buy season tickets. The first show of the season is Beautiful: The Carol King Musical. Walking to the car after the show both my wife, Cheryl, and I said, “I’d go see that again!” Guess what? We enjoyed it so much we purchased tickets for an upcoming matinee. I have never done that in my life!
Cheryl and I lived in New York and saw a lot of shows on Broadway. We saw some of the shows more than once but that was because we were hosting friends. We have never decided to see a show a second time, just the two us. I have to say, “Beautiful at the Fulton is one of the most enjoyable shows I have ever seen.”
It’s the story of Carol King’s life so there are some struggles, but even so, I’ll bet I smiled through 98% of the performance. I’m surprised people weren’t dancing in the aisles. It is that good. I never knew Carol King wrote so many songs. She is the top-ranking female songwriter of all time.
The rest of the season includes Frozen, Jesus Christ Superstar, Anastasia and Cats. As a sponsor Garden Spot Communities gets a certain number of tickets that we dedicate to each show, typically a matinee, to host a group of residents and future residents. This too is a wonderful experience.
A bus takes everyone into Lancaster. Drops them off at the door. And after the show brings everyone home. I’ve been on some of these excursions. Imagine a group of people who appreciate theater all traveling together. On the way to Lancaster the conversations are alive with anticipation. On the way back to Garden Spot Village everyone is talking about the performance and reliving the experience. It’s fantastic.
I had such a good time I had to write this blog to let you know. If you’ve been thinking about going to see Beautiful but haven’t quite made up your mind, by all means, go! If you weren’t thinking about it, I’d say, “it’s well worth going!” In either case, I’m betting you’ll be glad you did!
Be sure to Book Your Seats Soon. The show only runs until October 20.
